I TRIED EATING ONLY OATMEAL FOR 4 DAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT : OATMEAL RECIPES
There are tons of different types of diet out there to try if you're trying to lose weight but not every diet is for everyone. Some are effective to some and some are not. It always depends on how the body works. Even though we are almost built the same and have the same organs in our body there are still things that affects our body's working process such as metabolism and if some body compositions are too much or less in our body we can develop different types of medical condition that is why it also needs to be considered and it is always advised to seek professional help to check you out to avoid potential risks before trying out any diet especially if they're too extreme in the first place.
One of these medical condition is diabetes. Diabetes is very common and can be very dangerous. In simple term diabetes can be described as very high blood glucose or blood sugar level. Glucose comes from food we eat and with the help of an hormone which is insulin, it delivers the glucose to the cells to give them energy. There are types of diabetes. In Type I diabetes one's body doesn't make insulin and in Type II diabetes one's body doesn't make enough insulin. Meaning the glucose from food can not be delivered to the cells to be converted into energy without insulin, making them stay in the blood. Over time, too much glucose in blood can damage different organs, nerve or artery. It can also cause heart attack or stroke. That's why people who have this disease needs to limit their sugar and carbohydrates intake and take medications to control their blood sugar level.
One of the many people diagnosed with this is my mom. She was diagnosed with diabetes when I was in highschool. Unlike other patients who were diagnosed with diabetes my mom is not obese nor overweight. She had it maybe because she has a sweet tooth. She loves drinking sweet stuffs and eating chocolates. Also, diabetes can also be genetic so maybe she got it from my grandma who's also diagnosed with it. Afraid that this might affect her organs, going blind, heart attack, stroke or even losing a limb. She went on a diet. Fortunately, well on this situation at least. Her glucose level is only slightly elevated. Meaning it can easily be controlled with diet and of course medication. So what she did was she cut off sweets in her diet and she only ate oatmeal and sugar free bread for months making her lose so much weight. Until she learnt about what to eat and not and how to control glucose level. Today, my mom was able to eat whatever she wants but with portion control. Fortunately she's still able to control it up to this date making it on the normal level. But unfortunately once you are diagnosed with diabetes the medication's for a lifetime. They're maintenance medication.
One day, I was thinking of what diet should I do next and she gave me this idea of eating only oatmeal for days. So I did and this is what happened.
For day 1 breakfast I had Oatmeal with pb and banana.
Here's the recipe:
5 tbs oatmeal
1 cup soya milk (milk of your choice, low fat or non fat preferably or almond milk)
stevia (or any sweetener of your choice. If your milk is sweet enough you can skip this part)
1 medium size banana
1 tbs peanut butter
1 tsp chia seeds.
I just paired it with iced black coffee and I'm good to go. This is my favorite oatmeal recipe of all time. So what I did was the laziest way to make oatmeal. I just used easy cook oatmeal, microwaved my milk for about 1 minute or 2. Melted my pb for about 30 seconds then I just poured the hot milk over my oatmeal added stevia for extra sweetness I let it cook for a bit and topped it with banana, pb and chia seeds.
This recipe made me full for hours. I just went on with my day designing and blogging. I was feeling okay. I was feeling good to be honest.
After a few hours I started to feel hungry while working around 3pm. So I prepared my 2nd oatmeal recipe which is oatmeal with apple, cinnamon and walnuts.
Day 1 Lunch Recipe:
5 tbs oatmeal
1 cup milk
stevia
1/2 apple pealed
walnuts
cinnamon
This recipe also tastes so good. Honestly, I can eat oatmeal everyday without getting sick of it. But who knows maybe eating oatmeal alone could change my mind. Lol. Anyway after I prepared my lunch for day 1. I also thought of having overnight oats the next. So I made 2 right after making my lunch so that it can sit on the fridge for a little longer. I was full until evening so I decided to take the chance and skip dinner. I was not hungry anyway and I feel alright. So my day ended just like that without feeling anything bad fortunately.
The next day I had breakfast earlier than usual. I also woke up earlier than usual. So for breakfast I had my overnight oats and here's the recipe
Day 2 Oatmeal Recipe
1/2 cup oats
1 cup soya milk
stevia
1 tsp peanut butter
1 tsp blueberry jelly
1 tsp roasted sunflower seeds
1 tsp chia seeds
This recipe also tastes good for me. It's actually my first time doing it and it didn't disappoint. As usual I paired it with my iced black coffee while making this blog. Lol. It's filling and yummy. You can adjust the measurement if you want but just don't go overboard because it can make you gain weight rather than make you lose weight. It may look little but it's so filling. Actually I feel hyped today. Probably because I'm eating cleaner or maybe I'm just over acting. Lol. But I feel good today and I feel like it would be a productive day for me.
I spent my day studying how to manipulate a handheld sewing machine and learning to do some DIYs online and after that we went out to run some errands and buy stuffs. I was surprised that I was able to finished doing errands without getting hungry or being tempted to buy food. I only had my second meal at home which is obviously oatmeal. I just had the pb, banana, chia seeds oats which I consumed in day 1 breakfast I just added roasted sunflower seeds for extra crunch. Again, I just had 2 meals this day. Oatmeal is very filling and satisfying. I don't feel the need to eat dinner anymore and I only eat when I'm hungry even before this diet.
On day 3, I was so busy with my new hobby which is clothes diy so I had my breakfast at almost lunch time. So again this is a 2 in 1 meal. For brunch nothing special, I just had the usual oats with milk and stevia and topped with pb (obviously my favorite) and added chia seeds, roasted sunflower seeds and walnut. I was so busy with my diy so I just had whatever I thought of. Lol. After that at around 1 pm we went out again to buy some groceries. I was feeling okay. I am not starving but after doing grocery shopping, my mom and I need a place to rest to wait for my dad so I had vietnamese coffee which really made me so full that I cannot intake anymore food at home. So I skipped my oatmeal and considered my coffee as a meal. I felt a little nauseous maybe because of the condensed milk in it.
On day 4 I made a mistake doing work first before eating. I was starving while doing some work which I cannot leave open so I waited until I can already eat. I felt kind of light headed but that was not because of the diet. Maybe because I fasted for so long. But I instantly felt relieved after eating and here's my Day 4's 1st meal;
I made the same oats with milk and stevia but I added chocolate powder and topped it with walnuts and flax seeds and as usual I can not go on with my day without iced black coffee. For my last meal for this diet I had chocolate oats again with peanut butter, chia seeds and sunflower seeds. I was so lazy to think of any oatmeal recipe so I just stick with chocolate and I liked it anyway.
I was about to do this diet for 5 days but I suddenly wanted to eat something else on Day 5. So I ended it on day 5 and checked on my weight. I was surprise to see that I almost lost 2kg in only 4 days. This diet was probably the easiest diet I've tried so far. Sure 2 kg was not enough compared to other extreme diets out there but the good thing is this diet is healthier compared to others and it actually make you feel full throughout the day and 2 kg is still a lot for 4 days. I so love this diet and I totally recommend it. Just take note that make healthier choices in choosing what to add to your oats or else it will sabotage the weight loss process. I've also seen some people do this not only for days but months and it's actually doable. Actually I'm planning on doing this diet again. This diet is amazing I cannot put into words how I love it so much. I enjoy oatmeal. I didn't starve. I didn't feel weak or fatigued. I didn't crave for anything. I feel good and yet I still lost weight. It was not risky, well, not too much. Even though oatmeal is healthy, eating a balanced meal will always be the best option. So if you'd do this diet I'd totally support! Good luck!
And before you leave here's my vlog about it:
